Apex: The top of a die (see below), that slopes upward to a point.
Base: The bottom section of an upright headstone that is adhered to the ground that supports the headstone.
Die: The upright headstone that sits atop the base (see also Headstone and Monument).
Headstone: An upright headstone (see also Die and Monument).
Inscription: The writing that is sandblasted or etched into the cemetery memorial.
Marker: A cemetery memorial that lies flat on the ground.
Memorial: A monument, slant or marker erected in memory of one or more persons.
Monolith: A single headstone without a base.

Oval Top: A half-curve at the top of the monument.
Plaque: An ornament of some sort that is typically adhered to the memorial.
Polished: A high gloss finish, which refers to the type of finish of the memorial.
Roof Top: The portion of the monument that slopes up from the front and back, peakign at the center of the monument.
Serpentine: The raised curve surface located at the top of the monument.
Slant or Slant Marker: A marker that is raised off the ground in typically a 45 degree angle either on a base or without a base. This type of marker is not flush with the ground like the typical marker.
Steeled: A smooth, matte finish, which refers to the type of finish of the memorial.
Vase: An ornamental vase that is typically adhered to one or both sides of the base of a monument.
